Deviare set to advance digital transformation in South Africa
Posted: 20 August 2020
On Tuesday 17 October 2017 Deviare announced that the startup will officially be launching in mid-November 2017. Deviare is a digital firm that will focus on investing in capacity building skills and technology in order to facilitate digital transformation across both the public and the private sectors. The venture will be lead by ICT industry insiders Baxolile Mabinya and Lubabalo Dyantyi, both former MEA Managing Executives at Dimension Data.
A recent Microsoft study found that an estimated 48% South African organisations have already begun a digital transformation journey, with 44% planning to do so within the next year. However, with the level of maturity in this field still being low, it has become clear that technology alone is not the only factor to consider when implementing a migration strategy, according to the company.
Lubabalo, now joint Executive Director of Deviare, believes that new economic weapon of the 21st century and beyond is the intersection between technology and education. “I strongly consider success as harnessing the power and potential of technology and investing in people to mobilise their talents and skills. At Deviare, we believe that in order for technology solutions to be effective, their design and implementation should be rooted in the context into which they will be applied – and this includes the people that will be applying and using that technology,” believes Lubabalo.
According to the startup, Deviare was born out of the need to challenge the status quo of the ICT industry in South Africa and beyond, and create new client value across industries. The firm’s purpose is to assist organisations in building capacity to thrive in an increasingly complex, digital world.
“Like all living organisms, a company’s survival depends largely on its ability to effectively respond to its environment,” says Deviare’s second Executive Director, Baxolile.
Deviare also believes that technology has the power to fundamentally change the lives of young people. Not only will they invest in and partner with organisations across the technology landscape, the firm will also invest heavily in grassroots skills development in order to build the next digital generation.
With almost 30 years’ experience between them, Baxolile and Lubabalo are confident that Deviare will succeed in making a positive impact on the ICT space in South Africa and eventually, the continent at large.
